SPRING CHANGE MANUAL

PREPARATION
Tools required:
· 45 mm socket or RACINGBROS spanner (RT-FW45)
· 17 mm open-end wrench
· 6 mm Hex key
· Shaft holder (RT-ST01)
· Outer tube clamp (RT-C049 / if needed)

SWAP SPRING ON THE BIKE
STEP 1
Before opening the top cap, fully open the compression and rebound damping adjusters and back off the spring preload. Remove the stem and handlebar. Loosen the bolts of the upper crown. Use a 45 mm spanner or socket to loosen the fork cap.
STEP 2
Pull out the spring cartridge, and you will see the fork cap assembly, spring spacer, and fork spring. The front wheel does not need to be removed. Secure tie-down straps to the triple clamp and axle, then use a pulley system to compress the suspension. This procedure requires the spring cap to have been opened beforehand.
STEP 3
Push down the spring spacer and insert the 17 mm wrench onto the shaft nut.
The spring may be difficult to compress enough to insert the 17mm wrench and a 2nd person can be helpful for this operation.
STEP 4
Use a 6 mm Hex key to loosen the fork cap assembly.
STEP 5
Remove the fork cap, and you will see a hex fitting inside the shaft.
STEP 6
Use a 6 mm Hex key to hold the shaft, and turn the wrench to loosen the shaft nut until about 6 mm of threads are exposed on the shaft.
STEP 7
Screw the shaft holder onto the shaft. The shaft holder prevents the spring assembly from falling into the shaft and becoming inaccessible after the spring is removed.
STEP 8
Lower the holder and pull out the spring.

NOTE
Before installing the new spring, ensure that it is fitted with the corresponding shim. Each spring is matched to a specific shim; do not mix them up. Refer to the table below to verify the correct spring-and-shim combination.

STEP 9
Apply a generous amount of multi-purpose lithium grease or silicone grease, such as Slickoleum, to the spring. Then slide the spring and spacer together into the fork.
STEP 10
Insert the 17 mm wrench back onto the shaft nut and remove the shaft holder.
Use a 6 mm Hex key to hold the shaft, and turn the wrench to push the spring and spacer down.

STEP 11
Apply a small amount (1–2 drops) of threadlocker, such as Loctite 243, to the screw threads.
STEP 12
Install the fork cap assembly. Leave a small gap (2 mm) when tightening the top cap.
STEP 13
Tighten the shaft nut and fork cap. The torque specification is 200 kg-cm (19.6 Nm).
STEP 14
Reinstall the spring cartridge in the reverse order of disassembly; torque to 200 kg-cm (19.6 Nm).
Ensure that the upper crown and handlebar are installed properly, then tighten the upper crown bolts securely.

Modifying suspension settings can significantly alter handling characteristics and may overload components if changes are extreme.
· Only make adjustments within the recommended range.
· After adjustments, ride slowly at first to get accustomed to the new handling.
